Electric vehicle motors and battery modules are currently welded using 1080nm infrared lasers. However, this method presents challenges due to the high reflectivity of aluminum and copper, the primary materials used in these components, to the 1080nm wavelength. This high reflectivity results in inefficient energy absorption, leading to potential issues with weld quality, yield rates, and component lifespan. Blue lasers (450nm) offer a promising solution.
